Maria Cheung was born and raised in Hong Kong. She came to the United States as a tourist, then as a foreign student in 1991. Maria graduated from Queens College with a B.A. degree in Accounting and in 1999 earned a Master of Divinity at Alliance Theological Seminary. She then served as Minister of Christian Education, Community Outreach and Discipleship and was completely committed to family ministries within the church, as well as the Flushing community at large. Maria made an impact on the Flushing community by ministering to every generation, from children to youth, and from young professionals to senior citizens.
Maria felt called and moved to Little Rock, Arkansas in 2015. She had four great and fruitful years serving at a church there. God blessed her and the church greatly.
The Lord knows Maria’s heart and passion for pastoral care and for bringing the Gospel to children and families, and brought her back to the First Baptist Church of Flushing family as Minister of Congregational Life. She started to serve alongside the pastoral staff on March 1, 2020.
Maria’s favorite pastimes include trying different foods, meeting people and visiting families, relaxing with a good book, and spending time with friends.
